Architectural Work

Prior to my trans-disciplinary Design Masters at MIT, I was an architectural designer & project leader in San Francisco for five years. Continually working on fast-paced design competitions,  large scale & intimate  projects, and cultivating experiences I excelled in many roles from performing focused tasks to communicating across  internal and consultant teams.

Understanding Client Needs

Working closely with the clients to understand their unique personalities, aesthetic preferences, and functional needs led to a project based on connecting the family to the remarkable natural surroundings while providing a home that achieved a functional and spiritual haven.  .

Designing Elegant Solutions

The design of the home was centered around making the building disappear as much as possible, in order to accentuate the natural surrounds. The particular challenge was accomplishing this both internally and externally while allowing the building to provide a true sense of place.

Detailing Form & Function

Through working closely with the clients, manufactures, engineers, and fabricators, we tailored the design of day to day needs specifically to the envisioned usability. The products designed supported daylighting, views, and privacy with simplified user interaction.

Creating A Unique Facade

Designing a functional facade allows the building skin to perform for better use. Here, the facade works to provide shelter and encourage air flow creating a comfortable interior space.

Designing for Context

Having worked and lived in various climates, both in terms of weather and presence of nature vs. cityscape, I design to engage the user in their environment.

Collaborating with Fabricators

Developing communication across design platforms achieves new and thoughtful solutions through engaging with fabricators both in the initial design phase and through the construction process.

Flexible Spaces

Merging the functional and ambiguous needs of our client we devised a space that allotted anchor points within an open concept, connecting the users both within and beyond the interior space to the greater community.

Fast-paced Delivery

Communicating directly with clients, engineers, and builders deliverables were met between various platforms to enhance communication and innovation between team members.

Challenge & Innovation

Innovation of material and how it lends itself to the ultimate use of space inspired our design. Working directly with sound engineers our final product utilized the quality of sound absorption to inform spatial function.

Designing Flexibility

Our challenge was to take an existing courtyard at the OCMA and transform it to better encourage interactions of daily visitors while lending itself to planed events.

Imagining Events

Slow Food demonstrations, live music, children's story time, yoga class; how can space elevate experience? We cultivate space through both built environments and objects to further connection.

Welcoming the Visitor to Create

Chairs mounted on a large chalkboard perform a dual purpose; allowing the user to take a singe chair or create a venue, while giving a surface for the user to make their mark.
